Social media is the worst addiction, the youth filed a case against social media platforms
Montreal: A teenager has filed a
case against social media platforms
in Canada saying it is a worst
addiction.
According to details,
a 24-year-old Canadian citizen has
filed a lawsuit stating that social
media is the worst addiction, and is
causing negative effects on mental
health.
The young man from Montreal,
Canada has named Facebook,
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and
Reddit in his petition through law
firm Lambert Advocates.
The teenager says that he started
using social media in 2015, after
which he faced difficulties in
creative work and his physical
condition deteriorated.
According to the law firm,
the owners of these platforms have
a responsibility to ensure the health
and safety of users is a top priority,
especially children, who according
to Philippe Brault make up 52
percent of children between the
ages of 7 and 11 in Canada. Use
social media.
According to the law firm, the
young man behind the case limited
his social media use to just 2 hours
a day, but says the apps still affect
his sleep and productivity.
Experts say that when social media
channels such as meta-platforms
like Facebook and Instagram are
overused, they contribute to a
range of mental health effects, such
as anxiety, depression, Eating
problems, low self-esteem, self-
harm, suicide etc.
Sadly, children and teens are the
most affected by the harms of social
media addiction,
which is why so many teens and
families are filing lawsuits related
to the addiction, a law suit that
collects these lawsuits.
The information center said
18 new cases were added to the
Social Media Addiction (MDL) in
July, bringing the total number of
pending cases to 517
